Humans of EV

Unless anyone is living under a rock, it has been established that the air pollution levels in New Delhi have increased alarmingly over the past few years. If we, as responsible citizens, do not take corrective actions now - it will certainly lead to hazardous living conditions that we will push our children and future generations into. I have been living in Delhi and over the years I have been searching for a realistic and practical electric-powered vehicle for my daily commutes. Previously I was inclined towards going for the E2O, but my family was not fully convinced at that time for a switch to an EV.

Until the new generation vehicles like the Tata Nexon EV and the MG ZS-EV came along. I went ahead and booked both the cars and took a test drive of the two. The Nexon really made a lot of sense for its price and the features it packed. Also, the family was really happy with it. The MG had more range, but for my daily use, the Nexon was adequate enough. I was one of the earliest adopters of the Nexon EV in New Delhi. Over the last year, I have clocked over 26,000km in the Nexon EV and it’s been a rewarding experience to say the least. And on the economy side, the various subsidies that come with EV ownership really help save a sizeable amount of money and also the maintenance costs are significantly lower than the conventional ICE vehicles. Also, we have installed a green meter in our apartment and that brings down the per kilometre cost of driving our Nexon EV to just 65 paise!

I usually drive around 90km every day and the silent nature of the EV helps in a fatigue and stress free driving experience. The range too goes easily over 200km even with the AC at full blast in Delhi summers. So my full charging cycles are spread out over two days. I was always passionate about adopting the EV lifestyle and now it’s become a continuous process. Today I administrate one of the biggest Nexon EV Owners Group on Telegram and the Tata management is actively involved on the group to address complaints or provide updates to our vehicles. Some of us from the grown group recently did a drive from New Delhi to Ranthambore and back covering almost 1000km in our Nexon EVs. It was a hassle-free and enriching experience for us all. We are now planning our next long drive and have added more members to our Nexon EV family.
